📧 - [Baltimore, MD] - November 2, 2026 - Ongoing Threat of Benzodiazepines in Illicit Drug Supply - newsletter
EXCERPT: "Baltimore City public health officials warn of benzodiazepines detected in the illicit drug supply and their potential to complicate overdoses.
Between April and July 2026, benzodiazepines appeared in 31 drug samples tested across Maryland, more than twice the 14 samples found during the same months in 2025.
In 2026, four benzodiazepines were detected in Maryland's drug supply: bromazolam, deschlorodemethyldiazepam, ethylbromazolam, and lorazepam.
Naloxone may not reverse benzodiazepine sedation, so overdose responses may require continued monitoring and supportive care.
Outreach guidance emphasizes carrying naloxone, drug checking through ORPs, and utilizing local harm-reduction programs like OADPOPs."
